Lori ChampagneOwnerChampagne EngravingCreativity feeds the soul. Lori Champagne lives by this adage. She has had many careers — from picture framer to Muppet builder, hotel night auditor to newspaper editor. In 1994 she was looking for a business that was creative, yet with vast business possibilities. She found the awards industry. Over the next 15 years, her California-based shop, Champagne Recognition, won countless awards in the Awards and Personalization Association Retailer Creativity Competition. In 2012, Champagne was featured in a front-pageWall Street Journal article for excellence in creativity. That same year she fell in love, sold her retail shop, and moved to Michigan. Champagne still does some retail work, but today she predominantly operates in a business-to-business setting, mentoring and assisting other engraving shops to fill difficult orders. She also performs detailed jewelry engraving. Working in many mediums, her dedicated home-based studio is complete with a panoply of machinery and tooling. Champagne is a long-time member of Toastmasters and volunteers for various organizations.
